Description:

Today's album is from the New York-based multi-instrumentalist Pat Gubler, going by the name of P.G. Six, named The Well Of Memory. It is an encapsulation of the niche yet fascinating genre of psychedelic folk, displaying its key sounds, elements and inspirations to their fullest.

Most of the songs consist of the acoustic sounds of guitars, banjos and other string instruments atop singing, drawing in aspects of Western folk music and a simply structured yet striking sound to create an audial scenery of tranquility and ethereality, especially as it gets combined with Asian musical influences - particularly in both parts of the titular track "The Well of Memory" - and electronic sounds like guitars and synths at certain parts of the album. All of this culminates into a serene athmosphere all around which sends the listener into a meditative trance-like state of mind, and an overall mentally surreal listening experience that lives up to the label of being "psychedelic" in its nature.

An excellent set of tracks to cultivate a calm mood, and a good listen for fans of Western folk music.
