Description:

Shadows in Blue is an ambient album made by the musicion duo of Henrik Laugesen "Lauge" from Denmark and Agustín Mena "Warmth" from Spain, being Lauge's most recent - and Warmth's second most recent - release. The two of them produce ambient music like this to a wider audience both together and independently, even having founded their own side-projects such as SVLBRD (Warmth), and have been in their personal stage of ambient music limelight for years now.

Due to the nature of the album, there really is shockingly little to say about it in a detailed paragraph - it is just as ambient as music can possibly get. If one were to ask someone what they thought "ambient" music sounded like, they would imagine something just like this - slow, soothing and non-progressing meditative music that is great for a sleep playlist, but unlikely to be something a person listens to during e.g. a workout. The songs blend and fit into the background like a glove on a hand, achieving precisely what this type of music achieves to do, in which it succeeds greatly. There are no real "highs" or "lows" on this album, as it's relatively hard to notice any semblance of musical progression or new ideas - it is pretty much just 27 minutes and 35 seconds of the exact same sound, which there is nothing wrong with given its genre and aim, though the relistenability side of things intends the listener to do so for a very specific purpose.

If I were to be part of the audience that listens to ambient music, this would probably be amongst the very best albums out there, and it certainly is a very well-crafted piece of music; however, personal enjoyment in this particular case is unfortunately rather lacking. Still, if you are searching for a set of songs to meditate or otherwise calm yourself to, this album is most definitely among the top choices.
