Description:
From the city of London emerges the band LEAP, an indie rock band symbolic of the emerging phenomenon of introspective lyrics and less conventional music rising in the ranks during the lockdown and continuing to take off from there. Their debut album, Entropy, aims to be the primary way for the band who has developed a dedicated audience in recent times to connect with them in the most direct way possible, through the inclusion of what made them gain that attention as well as expansion on that sound and success.
Their catchy and upbeat approach to a classic rock lineup of instrumentation as well as feeling and at-times made dissonant yet still powerful vocals is LEAP's main ticket to success as every track enveloped within the album radiates the sense of youthful rebellion, controlled chaos and pure energy in the way it sounds and plays out. From groovy basslines and melodic yet edged guitars to engaging rhythms played by the drums and the framing around the songs bringing everything together, it is clear to see that every step of the way was crafted with care, passion and pride for the band's own work, and those emotions are more than rightfully earned, because with the amount of effort put in, this album absolutely soars in what it does.
It is easier to tell than to explain when something about a record simply works and captures immense charm in ways beyond musical or rational explanation. Nearly every track is a breath of fresh air shaking up what has already been built as a baseline, and the band simply manage to outdo themselves more and more over the course of the runtime. Tracks like "Sinking Feeling", "Waste Your Love", "Over & Out" and "I Was Never There" absolutely take the stage by storm, captivating and sending rushes consistently, with further songs taking a small back step to shine on their own in a less bombastic yet equally valuable manner, such as "Exit Signs" and "The Downfall".
There is very little to say other than the fact that Entropy is an album one has to perceive in order to believe - even if one may not see as much of an appeal for certain songs within it at first, especially through re-listens do the colourful musical directions it takes really pop out as highlights and moments of true greatness. LEAP is a name that, in spite of them already being in the process of rising in the independent rock scene, far more people should be paying attention to, as they have more than enough talent, motivation and charisma to carry their project over into something truly beyond comprehension, and Entropy is a prime example, perhaps even a sort of prototype to what is to come. Overall, if every other song and record released by them is of this level, then all one can really say is: sign me up!
