Today's album is the fifth full-length album by the infamous band that is credited as the pioneers of the concept of Orthodox Black Metal, that being Ofermod's "Darkosophia", having come out only exactly a week ago at the time of this rating. This band has been in the metal scene since the mid-90's, bringing in an esoteric sound and a Satanistic angle with them to the songs they release, and this album is no exception.
The album features a classically Black Metal sound of thick, heavy guitar, bass and drum instrumentation accompanied by growling vocals as well as haunting backing voices in certain songs. The athmosphere the songs provide is bone-chilling and dark, as if having walked in on an arcane, secret summoning ritual, and the appropriately dark and thematic lyricism only add to that invoked sense.
Certain songs in particular stood out to me in terms of their structure, vocalisations and instrumental features, notably "Malat Atat" and "Belialistic Gra'al Codex".
Perhaps I may need to get more into the confines of Black Metal music first to truly comprehend the minutities and masteries of this album, but until then, I've already found it to be a quite good listen, and would especially recommend it for fans of Black Metal and otherwise heavier metal music.
