Description:
Listed in some places as an EP instead of an album, but I shall count this one either way.
From the same records label that provided us with Ofermod and their then-new release from the very first days of the Albumthon project, today's record is the first and only release of Gothenburg-based black & death metal band Cardinal Sin, titled Spiteful Intents. An array of seven tracks that blend classic brutality as standard from its subgenre with melodicism and interesting musical elements, the record provides a varied metal soundscape that is appealing to many types of fans of the genre and showcases the talent of the band that has since not had any major releases, as they split up the same year.
There is little to say on the contents of Spiteful Intents itself on its own other than how it is a mildly interesting listen that, while enjoyable and varied enough, doesn't stick much in one's memory once it has passed by. A show of talent from the members of Cardinal Sin that have since moved on to partake in other musical projects and let their talents shine in more successful bands, this one bigger release from the 90's group stands as the main thing it leaves behind after it stopped all activity. Not bad by any means, but also not one I will return to soon.
(Note: Pardon for the shorter review today - life circumstances are getting in the way.)
