Description:

From a band based in the Chinese city of Guangzhou emerges a shoegaze and indie rock album by the name of Itinerary. Named after the term for a proposed route of journey, the music within reflects this overarching theme with its sound, acting as a liberated adventure that yet never loses sight of where it is. A piece that balances between harsh noise and iridescent harmonies in classic fashion of the genre, the album is an embodiment of the draws that its kind possessed as well as an amplification of them.

Distorted guitars play stunning melodies echoing along as their inherent statics acts as a source of complimentary stimulation to the complex musicality. Along with this fades in the angelic-sounding singing matching the atmosphere of being freed from the ground, in a sense bordering on etherial floating. It all culminates into a set of tracks that transcends the scope of its own vague stylistic direction and presents itself as something more than merely rock laced under electric strumming noises and dissonant sounds being emitted like a lot of shoegaze music falls under - it becomes something grander.

Certainly a pleasant surprise with how brightly the symphonic side of its contents shines though, Itinerary cements itself as an album of its leaning unlike any other out there, evading the common shortcomings of its peers with ease and even leaping a step beyond. Jo's Moving Day is a band that definitely needs more eyes on them, as they have been honing in their craft in the world of alternative music and putting out things more than worth the accolades. Overall a thoroughly impressive work that is likely to appeal to those otherwise put off by the less sanded down parts of the genre, let alone dedicated fans of it.
